Sorry, this event is SOLD OUT! On Saturday and Sunday, June 5 & 6, join us for an interesting scenic tour through California’s Gold Country, a very nice luncheon in a bucolic setting, topped off with an (optional) overnight stay at an authentic dude ranch located in the Quincy area! Arriving at the Greenhorn Creek Guest Ranch in late afternoon, we'll check into our comfortable rustic accommodations, and after a look around the ranch grounds (complete with its own private lake, a first class swimming pool and lots of atmosphere), we’ll relax and swap stories in the family saloon. Dinner will feature a chuck wagon barbecue. For the stay-up-late folks there are games to play and TV to watch. Come the dawn, we’ll be treated to a more-thanample cowboy breakfast. If you want to go fully “native” there are riding horses available, or you could try the hayride (real hay, nonny nonny!). You’re on your own for the Sunday drive home, so departure time can be your choice, and you could visit the interesting railroad museum in Portola. The quickest route back to Reno from the Ranch is an easy 75-mile drive via Highway 70 to Highway 395 South. Our total outbound mileage on Saturday is just under 200 miles. Travel time (with lunch and rest stops) is about 7½ hours and the maximum elevation is 7,800 feet (Donner Summit). Mark your calendars now. Sign-up deadline is May 25 and the group is limited to 12 cars. |
